THE GREAT BALL COURT
The Great Ball Court is the largest ball court in ancient Mesoamerica. It was used for playing the Mesoamerican ballgame, where "scoring" meant getting the ball through rings situated high on the walls. As expected, the rings are carved in the Mayan tradition: as intertwining serpents. The game was played with two teams, where the defeated team was often offered as human sacrifices.
